
Earlier this year, EU Gateway | Business Avenues held a business mission in the Healthcare & Medical Technologies sector in Korea, in parallel with the Korea International Medical & Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES).
Participating companies, such as Chirmed, had the opportunity to discover the latest in the healthcare sector and establish long lasting business collaborations through the well-known EU-funded initiative.
Chirmed is a Polish manufacturer of high quality surgical and medical instruments. The company is not only a specialist manufacturer, but also getting highly involved in R&D and bringing innovative solutions to market.
Chirmed showcased its custom-built titanium, orthopaedic, microsurgery and spinal surgery instruments to the Korean companies present at the exhibition, which were particularly interested in the customizable aspects of the products.
Mrs Aneta Dyner, from Chirmedʼs export department, represented the company during the business exhibition days in Seoul. Having already participated to a previous business mission, Chirmed was encouraged to take part again due to the success it had the first time around. Its goal was two-fold: acquiring new contacts as well as expanding the cooperation with existing clients, solidifying the companyʼs presence in Korea.

Chirmed had 20 meetings pre-arranged by EU Gateway | Business Avenues and increased support from the organisers. Mrs Dyner noted that the matchmaking tools have evolved since the previous edition, making it easier to interact with the right companies.

Mrs Dyner praised the programme, which she found tailored to the companyʼs needs. Above all, the fact that the organisers looked to understand their products and strategy for the Korean market was highly appreciated. Apart from the preparation for booths, logistics and matchmaking, the company was coached on the rules of doing business in Korea, which has in turn made a great difference.
